As we wrote earlier, usually all international flights arrive at JFK Airport named after John F. Kennedy. From there, it is convenient to get to Times Square (both by taxi and by subway).
And since Times Square is the heart of New York, you can start from here. If you plan to travel by taxi, then there are many options for routes. It all depends on your desires and financial capabilities. In this article, we will consider a route option with movements in the subway .
It should immediately be clarified that the route time is indicated without any stops, for guidance and planning your own vacation. After all, only one Times Square or One World Observatory can spend several hours.

So, having arrived at the Times Square metro station, you can walk along the following route (route map below):

This route of 4 km takes about 1 hour (without stops). Depending on whether you plan to climb the Empire State Building or Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center, walk around Grand Central, or explore contemporary art at Moma, you need to extra time.
If you have already exhausted your time limit, then you need to take the metro at the nearby station 5Av / 53St (to the last point of the Moma Museum) and go along route E to the Jamaica Center / Arche station, where you should transfer to the Air Train and head to the airport (this the journey will take 30 minutes).
So, you have already examined the Midtown of Manhattan, and the strength, time and desire to move on are still present, you can either climb a little higher and take a walk in New York's Central Park, or go down to Downtown.
By subway (or taxi if desired), you can go from the 49 street station along the R route to the South side of Manhattan to the Whitehall station (20 minutes).
