New York, NY 10012

The church was founded in 1890 by Edward Judson in honor of his father, Adoniram Judson, the first foreign Protestant preacher. At first, the church was supposed to be a meeting place for the ever-increasing number of immigrants in lower Manhattan. But gradually the church grew, and it was not only a place of worship to the Lord, but also a place where one could receive protection and guardianship. The church had many social projects. The Judson Health Center was founded in 1920. Within four years, it became one of the largest medical institutions in the country.

Often the interests of the church were unusual for the average man in the street.

So in the 1960s and 80s, Judson Church was actively involved in local and national movements for peace, civil rights, women's rights and gays. During the 1980s, the Judson Church ran several health and nursing projects. More importantly, Judson was one of the few churches that recognized the problem of AIDS and organized a support group for people with HIV/AIDS and their caregivers. The church also made it possible to organize funerals for such people, while other churches completely refused them.

From the late 1950s to the present, Judson has also been known as the home of innovation, the avant-garde, and artists of many genres, be it dance, painting or theater. In the 1950s-60s, the Art Gallery was founded, in which several now famous artists (Yoko Ono, Allen Kaprow, etc.) found a place to show their unconventional and unconventional works. The Judson Church was one of the three founding members of the Off-Off Broadway Theatre, and the Judson Dance Theatre.

The Judson Memorial Church building and Tower were built in 1892. John Rockefeller Sr. was the main "sponsor" in the 1880s and 1890s and this made the construction possible.

The parish was founded in 1888 in the Chelsea area to enable sailors and wharf workers along the busy Hudson River waterfront to attend services.
In the 1930s, an agreement between the Central Railroad authorities and New York City authorities needed to "elevate" busy rail traffic above the city's streets. As a result, the High Line road appeared. But during construction, the first Church of the Guardian Angel had to be demolished. And the railroad company sponsored the construction of the current church on 10th Avenue. The exterior of the church has been described as "Southern Sicilian Romanesque with a touch of Moorish influence".

The location of the churches can be seen on the map:
