King's Path, or Test for the Brave

King's Path, or Test for the Brave

One of the most dangerous hiking trails in the world is in Andalusia. In 1905, for the inspection and maintenance of hydroelectric power plants at the Chorro and Gaitanejo waterfalls, builders built a very unusual path from reinforced concrete slabs laid on iron crutches driven into sheer cliffs.

Once, the king of Spain Alfonso XIII himself was not afraid to go along this path in order to inspect the power plants, after which the " Path of the King " earned its modern name.

One of the most dangerous hiking trails in the world

Nowadays, the handrails and concrete slabs have collapsed in many places, and it has become extremely dangerous to move along the trail. Just looking at the photo of this trail will make you feel cold on your skin.

For safety reasons, the " Path of the King " was closed to tourists (after several deaths), but still, like a magnet, it attracts people from all over the world who want to risk their own lives. The daredevils, defying prohibitions and the danger of falling down into a three-hundred-meter abyss, pass this path, which in some places consists of only a longitudinal rail.
