Patio, Palma de Mallorca
Earlier, we already looked at Palma de Mallorca in general , and also got acquainted with the Cathedral and the Almudaina Palace .
Between these two buildings, the Carrer del Palau Reial street starts from the embankment. If we move further inland along it, the street will lead us to the Place de Cort, where the city council building is located. Unlike the buildings of the “city councils” that are familiar to us in the form of various kinds of strict parallelepipeds with windows, the building of the Palm City Hall is very impressive!
City Hall, Palma de Mallorca
The building of the 17th century previously served as the house of the jury, which was also a kind of "executive committee", namely, the executive body of the former Kingdom of Mallorca .
The balcony stretching along the facade on the second floor is used for performances during celebrations and ceremonies.
Inside, the building has retained its appearance from the 19th century and is now often used for photo shoots, including wedding ones.
On the square there are small cozy cafes where you can breathe or have a bite to eat.
On one of the streets there is a building in the style of Gaudí.

If you continue further inland (for example, along Carrer de Colom street), you will get to Placa Major.
Placa Major, Palma de Mallorca
As the name suggests, it used to be the main square of the city. A fairly large area, surrounded on all sides by houses, as before, now serves as a center of entertainment and trade.

Not far from Major Square is the Church of St. Eulalia (Eulalia) and next to it the Church of St. Francis.
The Roman Catholic Temple, dedicated to Saint Eulalia - Eulalia of Barcelona, is located on the square of the same name, considered one of the oldest squares in Palma de Mallorca, Plaza Santa Eulàlia.

The Basilica of St. Francis is the Gothic church of the Franciscan monastery, which is still active today.
The first stone of the Franciscan monastery was laid in 1281, and the construction process was completed only a century later. At the end of the 16th century, lightning struck the main facade of the church, and the building received significant damage. The reconstruction of the basilica was entrusted to the architects Francisco de Herrera. He began in 1618, but the process dragged on for more than 200 years.

The Basilica of Saint Francis of Mallorca includes a church, a courtyard (cloister) and a number of outbuildings and premises. Given the fact that the construction of the temple dragged on for quite a long time (a common thing for construction projects of this magnitude during the Middle Ages), and after that it was repeatedly restored, many of its components are made in different styles and directions, which makes the structure extraordinary and, unambiguously, attractive.
The courtyard of the complex is also picturesque: blooming cypresses, exotic lemons, palm trees and oleanders adorn the local Gothic buildings.
