In the western part of Germany, on the land of North Rhine - Westphalia, there is a place that can hardly be found in guidebooks - Externsteine (Externsteine). A place with an interesting history and incredible energy! The Externsteine is to the Germans what Stonehenge is to the British!

These are five cliffs 30 meters high, lined up in a single line in the middle of the Teutoburg Forest.
The Teutoburg Forest has been known since 9 AD, when the rebel Germanic tribes fought there against the troops of the Roman Empire. The Germans then won. And for the Roman Empire, this was a serious defeat, as about 27 thousand soldiers died.

With the advent of Christianity to these lands in 722, the place became a refuge for monks. Tunnels and niches were carved into the rocks, which served as rooms and chapels.
On one of the rocks, a bas-relief "Descent from the Cross" is carved, which dates back to the beginning of the 12th century.

The most interesting place is a small chapel, which is carved near the very top in one of these columns. You can get to it along the steps carved in stone and then cross the footbridge between the rocks. There is an altar there.

Scientists made measurements of the radiated energy and the results were surprising. At the altar described above, the power of radiation reached 50 thousand Bovi units, which is more than eight times higher than the energy radiation of a positively minded person. After spending just a few minutes in a niche, a person begins to feel a surge of strength and euphoria, the body is filled with warmth, and breathing slows down.

Until now, it remains a mystery how these rocks ended up in the middle of a rather flat area where there are no mountains.

Another part of Echsternstein's history began in 1939 with the advent of the Nazis. In the 40s of the twentieth century, most of the research on Externsteine was financed by the Nazis (Hitler's pathological interest in esotericism). This place, beloved by locals and visitors, was guarded by the SS troops and declared forbidden.
The Externsteine was the most revered mystical site in Germany. Within the walls of the sanctuary, all SS officers were initialized.
